Personality
Control and lack thereof defines Virgil's life. He grew up in an abusive home and lived in poverty for most of his life until he got a high-paying position in a warehouse that he hates. He holds onto any and all control that he feels he has with an iron grip. Believing that the world (or perhaps whatever god is out there) owes it to him for the suffering he's endured, Virgil considers control over life and death to be the ultimate control and exercises it at will. He can be charismatic, especially when he wants something, but his nature is to be cold. He hates when things don't go as planned even though he's always prepared to adapt. Arthur is the one exception to this rule.

Backstory
(This is a major draft)
Virgil grew up in one of the poorest areas near Spokane, living out of a run-down mobile home. He didn't have his own bedroom and slept in the living room. His parents enrolled him in public school, but after he turned 12 they wouldn't drive him themselves and wouldn't put in the effort to ask the school to assign him a bus stop. His neighbor, an old butch, caught him walking down the road at 4:30 am and took it upon herself to drive him to school herself. His mother was physically abusive and his father was never home so he actually ended up becoming really attached to this neighbor and visited her frequently; she later told him he was the son she never had. When he was 16, Virgil's father found out that he had been spending time with a lesbian and shot her. She survived, but moved away, and Virgil was left alone with his parents again. He had struggled to make friends at school his entire life because he was severely traumatized, so he started looking into psychology and had a very long phase of trying to act like a Normal Person and freaking people out because what the fuck the quiet greasy boy suddenly started becoming social????????? Anyway something something at 17 his father finds out he's gay and Virgil kills him in self-defense which kickstarts his murderous habits and religious-adjacent delusions. He left home after that and has not seen nor spoken to his mother in 8+ years
